What your blood says about your running.

Ferritin and haemoglobin

Runners lose iron through sweat, through foot strike and, for women, through menstruation. A low iron store costs pace long before it is called anaemia.

Vitamin D

From October to March you make no vitamin D in the Netherlands. It counts for bones, muscles and recovery, the three things a runner needs.

Energy balance and hormones

Training a lot and eating too little pushes testosterone and thyroid down. Whoever sees that early adjusts food before form collapses.

Runner test

The base of 15 values plus iron and transferrin, together the transferrin saturation. With ferritin that is the full iron picture.
